re: For those interested in group musical performances

I am listing some songs downloaded from The Fat Lute at http://www.thefatlute.com . You do need to register. It is free and they don't send e-mail. Once you login in you will need to search the songbook. To select music to download you click on the shopping cart (it has a plus sign on it). Do this for all the songs you want. Then click Download. Do not check the Combine Parts option. Save the songs to your downloads or documents folder, then unzip them into the folder 'Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/Music'

You might need to create the 'Music' folder if it doesn't exist there.

When you are in The Lord of the Rings you have to type /playlist to see the songs available. This is an example of what you can see:

WhataWonderfulWorld-Solo, What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
whiskey2, Whiskey In A Jar / Kilgary Mountain
ZorbasDance-Drum, Zorbas Dance Version 2 (3:43) Drum
ZorbasDance-Harp, Zorbas Dance Version 2 (3:43) Harp
ZorbasDance-Lute1, Zorbas Dance Version 2 (3:43) Lute1
ZorbasDance-Lute2, Zorbas Dance Version 2 (3:43) Lute2
ZorbasDance-Lute3, Zorbas Dance Version 2 (3:43) Lute3
ZorbasDance-Theorbo, Zorbas Dance Version 2 (3:43) Theorbo

I tried to show that the actual song name will be in a different color (usually a gold/tan) than song details. Details will be in white. Do not copy the details of the song when you want to play a song.

To play music, equip an instrument (purchased cheap at a bard), right click your name and select 'Play Music'. Then after you do /playlist, find the song you want to play. You will copy only the gold words up to, but not including the first comma. Then type /play (song name) sync. Once everyone has chosen which part of the song they are playing the last person types /play start. Then all synchronized playing will begin.

Example if I am playing a Lute and want to play the 3rd part of the Zorba Dance song the command would like this:

/play ZorbasDance-Lute3 sync

Last person would add this command after entering their song part (as above):
/play start

These songs have been play tested (I believe) and were chosen by about 5 of us after trying most of them. Solo songs will be listed once. Multi-part songs are listed by name for each part. The song name is repeated but with -instrument after it. So you can count the number of parts by seeing how many times the name of the song is listed. Below example shows the song AHeroComesHome listed twice. It is a two part song with a flute and a harp.

re: Multi-Player Band Night

0
For any of you anxious musical performers ~ We will be setting up an informal multi-player band night soon! Date: To Be Announced

Download the multiplayers songs, but remember not to select "combine parts". Review the info about how to participate in synchronized play. But please be clear that we all have to have downloaded the same file to make it sound right. The important part of the file name is the part of the name listed before the instrument.

We can also take time to indtroduce everyone to this fun aspect of LOTRO. The first few times we get together.

Purchase some cheap instruments on the night we form up. Get a variety if you can because some of these songs might require 3 flutes or 2 drums etc. So if you have them when we get together no one will have to run to the Bard. We can also swap instruments or trade during the session.
